Learn To Surf

San Diego's Surf eCo has a simple message: If you want to learn how to surf watch this video instead of paying for lessons. With the money you save, you can donate to planting a tree or buy a water saving shower head. Genius! Learn to surf and donate to a dollar to plant a tree here.

Luke in Heckaville

Pancake House Rocks!

This is Luke Forsyth's Portland debut solo show, "Heckaville: Pictures from home." This site-specific, installation work is a loose psychological self-portrait, that he calls "a mind map giving physical streets to a dream scape shadow world." The people are friendly and accept him as one of their own. It is a beautiful city you should come enjoy it for yourself.

Luke Forsyth has been creating art since he was a little kid, which he continues to do till this day. Facilitating guerilla art shows since 2003, his focus on collaborative art making and membership in several collective art groups has let Luke enjoy a certain amount of artistic acclaim. His first group effort was with Empire Squared collective of Eureka, Ca, where he helped convert a warehouse into the group's headquarters. Next was the multidisciplinary all star group called the Jets, creating several shows and mural sized works during it's short existence. Most recently Luke's focus has been pulled between The Experimental Team "Hope" Folk Art Ensemble Experiment and evilTeam. Both teams are currently producing performance, video and installation projects. You may have seen their work at the 2007 Portland Experimental Film Fest, AudioCinema Visual Collective, Grass Hut, X-mas on Tour, and Moshi Moshi, as well as a blockbuster show at Acorn Cafe.

Naked Oregon

This weekend it was like 80 degrees or something in Portland. Previously it has been raining and sometimes hailing. Not fun for spring to say the least. So in worship of the sun, Kati & I headed out to the SAuvie Island nude beach. Oh what fun! It was like a comic adventure. We sat in an isolated spot ( at least we thought it was isolated). As we laid there we started to notice that all of a sudden we were in the beach's cross beach traffic. Men were walking by life crazy. Mind you , everyone is naked, so we are laughing and the men are lurking. It was a riot. Then a man who looked like he just popped out of the dinosaur age rolls up. He is completely tan with a chizzled beard shave and a feather in his hand. He lurks around us for awhile. At this point everyone on the beach is chekcin this guy out because he is riding dirty! We ignore him for awhile and turn up the Bon Jovi. Just then a group of people roll up. Oh wait, what the hell? It is Chris Parker & crew. Nice. Getting caught on the naked beach by someone I actualy know & that doesn't even live in Portland, priceless. This is probaly the funniest thing that has ever happened. More happens but you can hear it from me in person. Suavie Island rocks. For more info about Naked Oregon check out the Oregon Clothing-Optional Beach Alliance! (http://www.orcoba.org/). They can help your dreams + tans come true!

Namaste.

Cheers!
