Money Problems???

No worries! Just go on Phish Tour!!! The foursome reunited last weekend in Hampton, Virginia and drew up quite the crowd. It had been 5 years since the band had hit the stage, so you could say the fans were a bit restless. Allegedly, around $1.2 million in illegal drugs were seized by police at this high profile reunion show. For the full article, go here. Apparently leading the way for the economies shift through drug trade, Phish is also setting the bar for free downloads. They have decided to give away all 3 nights of their Hampton Reunion shows for free. They are confident enough that their phans will support them through thick and thin. Why would they sweat a little free download when they have hours of shows for sale and to come. For more info about these downloads, go here. To get the ophishial downloads of these shows, go here.

Rest In Peace My Homie

This morning, I found out that my friend Ezra, from Humboldt had been murdered. I am so saddened by this news. I first met Ezra when I was about 20. We were both so young and badass then. I remember skating with him at the old half pipe on Gintoli Road. We used to skate there all the time. Ezra was a good friend that was there for me in my times of need. He was a firecracker and that is why we were friends. Ezra you will be missed. Rest in peace homie.

Pain Killers: Good Times For Bad Times

Today we are going to discuss pain killers. I got the below from a UK cancer site. Very interesting.

Opioids
Opioids (pronounced oh-pee-oyds) were first made from the juice of the opium poppy. But many are now manmade in a laboratory. There are different types of opioid painkillers – strong ones and weak ones.

Strong opioids include

Morphine
Diamorphine
Fentanyl and Alfentanyl
Buprenorphine
Oxycodone
Hydromorphone
Methadone
These are the strongest painkillers and are commonly used to treat cancer pain. You can only get them on prescription from your doctor. Used properly, strong opioid drugs do not have many side effects.

Weak opioids include

Codeine
Tramadol
Some types of weak opioids are available over the counter.

So I have never really heard of most of these, but wonder if they will take my cramps away?

"I Feel Like I'm Disappearing..."

Dreaming, dreaming of a girl like me
Hey what are you waiting for - feeding, feeding me
I feel like I'm disappearing - getting smaller every day
But I look in the mirror - I'm bigger in every way She said:
You aren't never going anywhere
You aren't never going anywhere
I ain't never going anywhere
I ain't never going anywhere

I'm in heaven now - I can see you Richard
Goodbye Hollywood, goodbye downey - hello Janis
Hello Dennis, Elvis - and all my brand new friends
I'm so glad you're all here with me, until the very end

Dreaming, dreaming of how it's supposed to be
But now this tunic's spinning - around my arms and knees
I feel like I'm disappearing - getting smaller every day
But when I open my mouth to sing - I'm bigger in every way

She said:
You aren't never going anywhere
You aren't never going anywhere
I ain't never going anywhere
I ain't never going anywhere

Hey mom! look I'm up here - I finally made it
I'm playing the drums again too
Don't be sad - the band doesn't sound half bad
And I remember mom, what you said
You said honey - you look so under-fed

[background voices singing various covers]

Another green salad, another ice tea
There's a tunic in the closet waiting just for me
I feel like I'm disappearing - getting smaller every day
But I look in your eyes - and I'm bigger in every way

She said:
You aren't never going anywhere
You aren't never going anywhere
I ain't never going anywhere
I ain't never going anywhere

Goodbye Richard - gotta go now
I'm finally on my own - but Dan's got a gig
Keep the love lights glowing - little girl's got the blues
I can still hear momma say: "honey don't let it go to your head"

Dear Indie Diary,

In the past few years I have been noticing a slue of fabulous psychodleic indie rock bands. (Pardon me but I have no idea how to classify anything due to my stay on the farm.) They all are pretty amazing artists who are representing the true underground spirit and soul of our country.

So, all I want to do is listen to their music and go to their shows. There is a problem though. They aren't playing. Not even anytime soon.

Solution?

You might already know what I am thinking.

So for ages now I have been seeking my soul mate. Looks like now I have found him.

I really have no idea who Lil Wayne is. All I know is that when I see his picture, all I can think is 'we were meant for eachother'. I mean a tattooed face, dreadlocks and badass attitude to follow, how could I resist?

Dude are you serious? What is wrong with you?I don't even know where to begin.....First of all, you have come to Humboldt many times since you moved away, and I always understood when you didn't make time for me, or even call.Second, I am engaged and trying to plan a wedding which until two days ago was going to be in 7 months. Dates are not working out, money is tight, etc. I am stressed out, 20 lbs. overweight, and barley together. In between long, stressfull trips to the bay to plan, I come home and play catch up with my work. I am sorry that I wasn't able to drop everything to hang out with you, but I wasn't able- it wasn't that I don't like you. Third, maybe if you showed ANY sign of friendship towards my fiance (like acknowledging that she lives here when you leave a message on OUR answering machine) it would make my life allot easier. How would you feel if after you came to Humboldt and didn't even bother to call me, I accused you of hating me? Would you like that?CR
I feel like a total loser now. I can admit it. I totally F-ed up this time. I am so so sorry.

Packing Up and Moving Out- Again!

After a few months of limbo, I have finally decided to "settle" down. I willbe moving to San Diego this weekend. What is in S.D.? I am not sure, but since I adore randomness, I am up for the challenge. I will be living with my cousin Carly, in Pacific Beach. Most likely, I will be teaching yoga down. Hopefully, I will also get off my ass and surf more.

Lakers #1

I mean really? Yes, kid, really!

30-6 so far this season. Today I heard that they currently have the best record in the NBA. That's what I am talking about playaz! Now we need my boy Sasha to get better from his back injury and then it is on! Still so happy about our Christmas victory against the Celtics. Thank God! Best X-mas gift ever!

Road trip tonight to Texas... Let's do this boyz!

Go Lakers!

Yoga Does It

Asana (poses), pranayama (breathing), and meditaion are the three main principles in a yoga practice. Since I have been carless in the OC, I have been taking the bus to Bikram Yoga in Fulleton. There I trade a few hours a week for unlimited yoga practice. So far I have been to 4 classes and already I can see the difference in my body. Everything is toned and I love it! Besides being a great workout, yoga helps with stress and helps balence the mind. I feel so much more at ease and less stressed about my current position. If you are feeling like you might need the same type of healing check out Golden Lights Yoga. There I provide different classes to help you with all your fitness needs.

Limbo without the stick

So I am currently in La Habra at my parent's house. They have the slowest computer in the world. Blogging is not an option and that makes me sad.

ZAZA

If you could imagine holding hands with your lover and jumping on pillows of opium smoke then you will love ZAZA's new Ep, Cameo. Originally from the West coast, these Brooklyn based musicians create dream like sounds that gently ease you into melodies like beautiful sirens drawing you into infinity. ZAZA's new Ep is like drowning with a smile on your face. You can really hear and feel the passion that this duo has created.

Make ZAZA your new favorite band! Click here to listen to their awesome sounds and download their new Ep Cameo.

Enjoy!

OLD

Just when they made you believe that 30 is the new 20, you realized that 30 is still old. Not sure if it is just the stigma attached to turning the dirty 30, or if it is the wrinkles that are suddenly appearing everywhere, but the number 30 is causing quit the rawkus.

I personally turn 30 in March and am beginning to feel the weight of the matter. My friend is 31 and she is acting like it is the end of the world. This frightens me. Are we really getting that old? I mean what is 30 on the grand scheme? Hopefully 30 will be at least our half way point, or even better 1/3 of our total life span.

Who can really call the future? It is all about living in the here and now. I guess 30 is a great time to reevaluate things and a time to start treasuring precious moments. Turning 30 is a time to embrace the wrinkles and the damage from the past, and start anew.

We are not old baby, we are just getting wiser by the day!

LOVE YOU OLD FOLK!

A Special Holiday Message From George Michael

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance
But you still catch my eye
Tell me baby
Do you recognize me?
Well
If it's been a year
It doesn't surprise me
"Merry Christmas"
I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying "I love you"
I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now
I know you'd fool me again

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

ooooo
oh oh baby

A crowded room
Friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you
And your soul of ice
My god I thought you were
Someone to rely on
Me?
I guess I was a shoulder to cry on

A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man under cover but you tore me apart
oh oh
Now I've found a real love you'll never fool me again

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away

NYC> OAK> SUGARPINE

So sad to say good bye to New York and the wonderful times we shared. The sky scrappers, the brunch days, the one way tickets on the met... I will never forget you. My trip to New York was amazing. I was able to learn yoga with the most wonderful people. They are all so amazing! New York made me new friends, and helped me reconnect with ones of old. It was amazing hanging out with Balir Thetford after about 10 years of being out on our own. It was a treasure to reconnect with Jen Fraser. Talking with her was so dear, it really touched my heart. We met around age 15-16 and were juvenile delinquent grrrLs together.Oh the good times of yesterday and the blessed ones of today! New York brought me to the famous... Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald among my most favorites. I am so thankful for the opportunity my roommate Aaron provided me. It was so kind and I am most gracious.

Thursday around 1 pm, I landed in Oakland. What a breath of fresh air: California. I was back in my home state. Udom picked me up and we drove to Sonora, Ca. and met one of my best friend's Julia. She and Udom, her boyfriend, live in Sugarpine, about 10 minutes North of Sonora. Wow, this place is like camping. There is nothing around. Yesterday I went for a 2 hour walk/ hike, and ran into no highway, no store and only a few abandoned for the season vacation mansions. This place is amazing despite the desolation. The weather is mild and sunny. They really want it to snow, but I am cool with the sun's warm love.

It was burn day today in Sugarpine. I took all the dead moist leaves and mixed them with the dry needles, then proceeded to make a big fire. Oh what fun. I love out door fun especially when it involves burning things. I opened a PBR in honor of my good work. Ha! So that is the latest. Sugarpine. It might be nowhere to you, but it's where I'm at.

Love You!

California Love

I fly out of JFK, Thursday morning. I can't wait to get back to Cali. I miss my friends, family and the freedom California allows me.

I will be in Sonora till Christmas Eve. After that La Habra.

Personal Goals For 2009

2009...another chance to get it together.
Here are some of my personal goals for the new year.

1. Learn some Metallica on guitar.
2. Master Natarajasana, Lord of the Dancer Yoga Pose.
3.  Read  more.
4.  Surf.
5.  See the Lakers win.
6.  Spend more time with the family.
7. Start a career.
10. Find a city to live in.

Dj Katcha

Yo just was checking out my homie Yurgin's webpage and came across a rad drum n bass 2001 remix. Dj Katcha has some massive sounds! I got this info from her myspace page:

DJ Katcha is one of the prominent figures on the czech drum and bass scene and she has already been showing off her mixing skills for more than nine years. She regularly spins records at prestigious events as well as at the big music festivals. The list of top drum and bass DJs next to whom she has already been performing is really extensive. At random: Grooverider, Roni Size, Dillinja, Lemon D, Ed Rush, Andy C, Pendulum, High Contrast, J.Majik, Simon Bassline Smith, Nicky Blackmarket, Shy FX, MC Det, Dynamite MC, MC Jacob, Jumping Jack Frost, Aquasky, London Electricity, Teebee, Bad Company, Doc Scott and many others.
Another important point of fact showing her prominence on the Czech scene is that DJ Katcha has been sponsored by Carhartt Europe since 2001.
Now, Katcha is also working on producing her own music and plans to release her first tracks by the end of 2006. In 2004 she took part in the international Red Bull Music Academy workshop in Rome, and also in a DJ workshop in the Chinese capital city Peking in May 2006.
As a DJ she has also played in Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Israel, Russia, Italy and China.

Honestly, I am not the biggest drum n bass fan, but 2001 + girlies who rock always fit in with my style. Check out her 2001 remix here.
Pretty rad.

Here is some footage from my homie J!m. He is originally from New Hampshire, was residing in Tahoe and is now officially a Portland kid. He was the bassist of Absynth, but has gone solo with his new project Chip Chop. Check out his latest set from November 2008.

Wicked!

Darkside Drunks

I don't mind if people drink. Hell, I like my wine, my beer and my champagne every now and again. One thing I can not stand is darkside drunk. This is term used for normal people, who when under the influence of alcohol turn into drunkin monsters. These people are business men, women with careers, bums on the street: this problem can effect anyone. What happens is that as soon as they see alcohol, the lose their limits. Next thing you know they have gone from one drink to five in under an hour. Pace them- it is true. As the drinks go down the transformation begins. They go from your average Joe, to a total asshole who wants to fight you and the whole bar. This would actually be a good scenario for darksiders. It always gets worse! Next thing you know they are flashing everyone, telling your best friends off, embarrassing you, embarrassing themselves. The best is when you are one drink deep and they are ten, when they try to discuss why their parents hate them, or start questioning you, asking why are you the way you are. All the while they have no idea what they are saying or doing and will never remember it no matter how hard you try to get them to remember. It is so frustrating dealing with these darksiders. I am not saying that I am a saint, but these people bug the hell out of me, and honestly bore me to death. I don't mind a little darkside drunk here and there from someone, but every time you go out gets old. I hate monotony! So why the hell would I want to relive nights at the bar with a darksider over and over again? The insanity must stop!

So, that brings me home tonight. Instead of continuing my night out with my darkside drunk roommate, I have decided to come home and spill my guts about it. Trust me, it is more exciting than dealing with a darksider. At least I can go home with a sense of pride...

Cheers!

p.s. If you are a darkside drunk, sober up and stop making life so boring.

Husband Hunting

So, I got bored today. It was a rainy day in Brooklyn and I already did all my chores, so I figured a good way to pass the time would be to surf for a hubby. I logged into eHarmony, opened some wine, and answered the 15 or so page interview to find my new man. The whole time I was answering personal, but oh-to-real questions about myself, I wondered- how the hell is the Internet going to find me a hubby who is down for all the stuff I am into. I mean really? How are these simple questions going to help me find a guy to travel the world with? So I proceeded and finally my answers started to show up. Unfortunately, I am going to have to pay to see all my new men, so i decided to just browse their bio's for now. So, hubby #1 is Christopher from Huntington Beach. He is a 32 yr old who is passionate about his career as a orthopedic surgeon. Wow! I can't believe I would ever fall in love with an orthopedic surgeon! Might this be love at first sight? Oh, but wait, there is hubby #2, shining through the list. Hubby #2, Adam from Tustin grew up in Iowa and spent most of his time outside hunting, fishing, riding, canoeing, camping and wrenching on toys. Sounds like a dream boat right? Oh, did I mention that Adam views himself as mature? Definitely not going to work out. Unless Adam wants a free spirited novelty hippie chick.

So once again, my husband search has been cut short. Sometimes I think it would be nice to be married, but then other times I realize that with my life being so spontaneous, it would be really hard for me to settle with guys like Christopher & Adam. Sorry eHarmony but I am not going to pay your fee to find my dream hubby. Maybe next time! - Actually, maybe next time I will read a book instead of getting so bored as to internet search for the future Mr. Bondo.

Good luck finding love folks. Who knows, your future could be one click away... or one bottle of wine for that matter!

Cheers!

Caravan Of Dreams

Yesterday I went to the East Village. I attempted to shop, but found myself empty handed and rather hungry. I headed down to Caravan of Dreams on 6th, just off of 1st. This place is totally amazing. All vegan organic- my favorite!! They had so many delicious entrees to choose from. Their menu even had a huge raw section. Starving, I wen for the Macrobiotic Plate. It came with a side side that had sunflower spouts, radishes, yellow & green bell peppers and was covered in some kind of yummy lemon dressing. I really put a smile on my face. Simple pleasures, right? Then the entree came. Yikes! It was huge. It was split into large portions of bbqed beans, plain quinoua, grilled setain, some sea veggie, and steamed kale accompanied with other green veggies. Delicious. Then there was this tahini sauce to top it all off. Yeh, I ate the whole thing. It was so good I had to. I can't help myself around vegan organic delights. I could eat like this everyday. Although I pretty much try to, nothing I cook ever turns out this beautiful & delicious! Now I have someone to look up to.

Eat well & be merry!

MEDIA CONTENDER

My boy Danny Johnson has his new blog up, Media Contender. There are so many wicked downloads on it. A must see if you are into drum n bass, dubstep or any kind of dance music for that matter. He is an amazing guy & celebrates only the finest, hard hitting beats. Check out his site here.

NYC To Do's

Done with school, now it is time to go have some fun...

Here are my NYC to-do's

1. Get me some Henna
2. Get me some kind Ayurveda grindz
3. Go to the Modern Art Museum
4. Go see where the family came in on the boat
5. And of course more grindz

I am on a total budget, but so ready to take this city on, again! Since first visiting NYC in 1999, I have been able to find some many gems. I mean vegan, organic, eco rad type places that tickle my fancy. I am excited for 2 weeks of exploration. Unfortunately, it is like 30 degrees outside, I am going to bundle up like the Christmas Story kid and head out.

LOVE!!

DRAW EVERYWHERE

This kid, Forest Stearns, has some amazing art. I think we might have gone to the same high school & college- which is random as hell - but randomness is my thing - so I love it. Anyways, looks like the kid is doing pretty well for himself, linking up with Dj Shadow, Ab Rude & other radass rawkers. check him here

Love to you & don't forget to make your mark in this world.

I thought that was pretty gross at first, but the more I thought about it throughout the day, the more I was charmed by it. I can tell you are outgoing and uninhibited by social norms and I find that very sexy. It inspired me to fish a half-eaten doughnut out of a trash can on my way home from work. It tasted awful, but I felt so liberated.

You where dressed kind of poorly and your hair was unkempt (clearly unwashed), but I get the impression that your just a free spirit with bigger priorities then basic hygiene. Perhaps your a modern Aristotle?

Would love to discuss Kierkegaard or Nietzsche with you sometime, perhaps over a can of Pepsi? My treat.

Not The Normal Blazin' We Do In Brea

I haven't lived in the O.C. since 1999. Every time something tragic happens there, I start to freak out. My hometown is where all my friends and family live, and today some of them are at risk or even worse, have been devastated by fire. On Friday, a fire broke out somewhere near Brea Olinda High School, which is about 4.5 miles from my parents house and even closer to tons of my close friends & families' homes. I have been so bummed out all day. Last night my sister called me and asked me what I wanted my parents to take of mine if we evacuated. Shit! My mind started racing and all I could think about was my bunny rabbit, childhood blankie, and my thousands of pictures detailing my entire life. Stacey then reminded me that I would probably want my crystals as well. I began to freak. Had to hang up on her and find out the real story from my mom. She asked the same question, what do you want out of the house? "Is this really happening?"- I thought.

I have been frantic all morning tracking the fire. My neighborhood is safe, but tons of my friend's are not and others are now gone. I feel so saddened and can only extend prayers to everyone effected by this disaster.

My connection with Southern California has been lost for years, but lately I have been feeling like it is time to come home. Seeing things like this devastate my people only makes me want to be closer to help out. I want to go home this very minute, but in turn know there is nothing I can do. I come home for Christmas and now plan on staying to help those effected by the fire. My heart goes out to everyone.

Love always. Never forget family and friends, they are worth more than any material possession on the earth.

Thoughts on The Yoga Sutra's

“He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye.”
-Hindu Prince Gautama SiSiddhartha

"Centuries ago, the man who was—no matter what his errors—the greatest of your philosophers, has stated the formula defining the concept of existence and the rule of all knowledge: A is A. A thing is itself. You have never grasped the meaning of his statement. I am here to complete it: Existence is Identity, Consciousness is Identification."
-Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

"At other times [the Self appears to] assume the forms of the mental modifications."
-The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Commentary by Sri Swami Satchidananda

In the womb we are pure and innocent. The second we are born we are attached with certain identifications. Identifiers like girl, boy, small, big, cute, are immediately placed upon us. As we grow consciousness forms and we begin to subscribe to these identifiers. As we grow from that, our consciousness shifts and we begin to identify ourselves as individuals. This is where ego is developed and we begin to separate ourselves from other based on how we identify with ourselves and the world. In the 4th Yoga Sutra, identification is questioned and deconstructed. The Sutra's ask us to question what we really are without our identifiers and tells us that "when [we] really understand that, [we] will see we are all the same."

"One Love." This is my mantra. I believe people are one. I believe in compassion and unconditional love for all. I try not to be selfish. I try not to hate. I try to think of others before myself. Sometimes all of this is very difficult, but this is how I feel truly happy in the world. After reading the Sutra's, the 4th kept coming back to me. It was the explanation of the loss of identification that made such an impact on me. Identification brings difference and acknowledging difference separates and closes us off. This Sutra is a great reminder that when we sit back and say we are this or that, we are just furthering ourselves from eachother and the divine. Of course it is good to love oneself, but it is a virtue to love all. If we lose the identifiers, then all we have is "I", which as the Sutra's describe is "pure" and "in that pure "I" there is no difference between you and me." The described "I" reflects the same way "one love" makes me feel: pure. Finding this "pure" state in all to me only brings happiness. I might be selfish and want to give love to everybody rather than a select few, but as the 5th Sutra states, "if you really want to be selfish, be selfish in the idea of retaining your peace." My peace is in love, and I have love for all.

Yoga Teacher Training: Sonic Yoga

I started yoga teacher training at Sonic Yoga, in New York City. Last week was my first week and I totally love it. I am learning so much about the asanas, or poses, and how the body works with the asanas. This training is a miracle for me. I feel as if I am transforming into a better person and for once feel like I have found some sort of career. This career choice is not going to be an easy stroll into riches, but with time and practice is going to be the best possibility for me. I am excited to continue my training and practice at Sonic Yoga, but also look forward to more training. After this training, I would like to continue my education and become a 500 hour level teacher. I am totally inspired!!

Namaste!

HERE I GO AGAIN...

This has been a wild past few weeks. Left Portland with a bang! Short Shorts party was way too fun. I mean seeing tons of dudes rocking mini's was hilarious. Left Oregon a few days later to go visit Humboldt. It had been 2 years since my move and nothing had really changed there. A few of my girls had kids but other than that, the place is still one of the most debauturas places on earth. You can't even imagine. It was really nice to see all the homies and say hi to the massive redwoods. After 2 weeks knee deep in chaos, I bailed to so cal to see the fam and get ready for my NYC mini move. I arrived in NYC on Friday. Took a cab to my new spot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This place is amazing. I guess it is located in the Polish part of town and kinda down the road from the hipster capitol, Williamsburg. My roomie, Aaron is an art handler and artist. Oh and he loves Gossip Girl- so do I - don't tell!~! Friday night we went to the city for his buddy's birthday. We went to this speakeasy type of bar. It was crazy, they only served drinking in tea cups. Great way to make you think you are not really pounding shots. Great! Woke up Saturday not feeling 100%, so we did brunch on Bedford St. We met up with some more of my roomies homies and drank breakfast bombs, which consist of a momosa with a shot of vodka. Death, I know! After a few, we met up with my best friend, Crystal and had some foamies. Foamies are $3 huge styrofoam cups filled with Budwiser. Normally not my thing, but when in Rome... or Brooklyn! The rest of the day was out of control, i am sure you can imagine, but I made it home safe. Now I am chilling out and enjoying this beautiful sunny day. Earlier I went out and got some flowers, which are making my day even better. Might hang out with Blair Thetford later today. Should be fun considering we haven't seen eachother in almost 10 years... I think my dreads were like 2 inches last time I saw him!- old school!! OK love you and miss you tons!

Till the next episode...
love!

Cha Cha Cha Changes...

Today is my last day at Meadows Group Realtors. Wow, what an amazing experience. Who knew working in an office could be so cool? All the agents here are so great and I am going to miss all of them so much. I am so fortunate to have met such like minded individuals in such an environment.

I have a lot going on right now. On Oct. 1, I am headed down to Humboldt to clean out my old house and see all of my homies. I am getting pretty excited but also pretty sad to leave the wonderful world I have created here in Portland.

After Humboldt, I am going to head down to So Cal to give a shout to the family & my homies down there. It will be nice to chill for a few with the family. I haven't seen them since Christmas, so it should be a really good visit.

On Oct. 17, I fly to NYC to start my new life- again! I will be attending Sonic Yoga Studio and going through yoga teacher training. I am pretty excited about this and hope to take it to new levels.

Last night, Nina had a chat with me and pretty much told me to reach for the stars and beyond. She told me that she expects nothing but the best from me. Our conversation really touched me and made me realize my worth. I am so thankful for her and all the wonderful people I have met here in Portland. Everyone has touched my life here and I am forever grateful!

Portland, it has been a good run. Till the next episode.

LOVE!

THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS

It was the year between 6th & 7th grade. The year when things started making sense. I was understanding individuality and realizing that I didn't need to be like all the other girls from Nordstrom's Charm School. My friend Christie's Aunt gave me Meat is Murder and The Queen Is Dead tapes. I really could relate! I was already into tons of New Wave, 80's stuff and of course rap, but these tapes essentially changed everything. I was immediately prompted to find out exactly what everything meant, in the lyrics, the literature references and the siren that would be draw me in for the rest of my life. I was so amazed that a musician could be so poetic and so right on my adolescent level. The sounds drowned me out and here I wake today, still impacted and influenced by the strange and lovable sounds of The Smiths. Since I received the tapes, I have been to countless Smiths/Moz conventions, concerts featuring one or more members ( I have now seen them all ), and owe tons of rare bootlegs. Even my high school boyfriend, Johnny, was obsessed. My sister introduced me to a guy Tony, who was so fortunate to meet Moz one day. This kid Tony went so far as to have Moz sign his arm and then go and get it permanently tattooed on his arm forever. I don't blame him, I would have done the same. If you have not heard The Smiths, now is the time. Johnny Marr is an amazing guitarist who shreds any fuckin hippie jam band away. Paired with Morrissey's poerty and soothing voice they make an unstoppable team who will never be reckoned with. Unfortunately, The Smiths split in the 80's, but you can still see all members separately. Not as fun as the days of the Cemetery Gates, but you can always find Moz performing his new hits, or watch Johnny Marr DJ in Portland... as for the rest of the members... they rock too.. it is just Morrissey and Marr are a team of genius who will never be matched.

So, take me out tonight...

... and if a double decker bus... crashes into us... to die by your side...
well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

ROOTS

This is where my roots are:

DEAD KENNEDYS- "CALIFORNIA UBER ALLES"
When I was 14, Gina Lamont and I put on In God We Trust, Inc. and cut off all our hair. Her mom was pissed. When I got busted at 15, this album was the first thing taken away.

FUGAZI- "WAITING ROOM"
The night Kurt Kobain died, I was 15 and lost like every other 15 year old. Life was so confusing and awkward. When Kurt died, I was devastated. I sat up all night in the dark and played my 13 Songs album. That album is still one of my favorites and this song will always be the best Fugazi song ever!

DESCENDENTS- "SOUR GRAPES"
I remember being 15 and driving down from OC to Mexico for Amaris's 16th birthday listening to Livage. As we smoked clove ciggs and passed the nuclear tits, I cried because I knew my mom would kill me.

MINOR THREAT- "OUT OF STEP"
Young enough to not know better. Claiming straight edge is cool at 14, but wait a year till the drugs start rolling in.

BIKINI KILL- "WE DON'T NEED YOU"
Bikini Kill rocked my world. I remember purchasing Pussy Whipped at Black Hole Records in Fullerton at age 12. I was so embarrassed that the album was called Pussy Whipped. I was so young and had no idea what a tremendous impact Bikini Kill would play on the rest of my life. Being one of the only all grrrL bands, they taught me about woman's right, girl power and self worth. I still hold them dear in my heart. This is where my little girl innocence turned into bad grrrL feminist.

Peace Out P-twn

Yesterday I put my 2 weeks in at my office job. It went over really well & they are all really happy for me. I am moving out of Portland on Oct. 1. That is the day I will drive to Humboldt to get the rest of my junk & see all the beautiful people I love, miss and adore. On Oct. 11th, I roll down to So Cal to visit the fam fam & on Oct.17th I fly out to NYC. In NYC, I will be going to Sonic Yoga to complete their teacher training. Sweet! I am so pumped to do yoga & rage NYC. I have so many East Coast fam fam & I am so excited to see them again! After NYC session, I am flying back to the Westside to see Julia Stephen's, one of my best girls, in Sonora, Ca. where I will stay till X-mas, then back to So Cal. I am not sure what the future holds or where I will be in 2009. All I know is that I want to see my family & friends more, see the sunshine a bit more and surf tons!!!

Hope to you see while I am on Nicole Fall tour!
Love you!!

NW MUSIC FEST AND BEYOND

Flipper with Krist Novoselic

12:50 am, Sunday, Sept. 6. Ash Street Saloon: It suddenly dawns on me as Flipper are setting up that the majority of the people I've seen working the soundboards this weekend were women. How freakin' cool is that? (RH)

12:55 am, Sunday, Sept. 6. Ash Street Saloon: Flipper front man Bruce Loose is stalking the stage as the rest of the band sets up, trying to be heard over the loud garage rock being played over the sound system. As best as I can make out, he's happy that he can smoke on stage, he wants to know how many people have actually heard of this band before, and he doesn't want people spilling his pitchers of Guinness and water that are sitting in front of the kick drum. (RH)

1:00 am, Sunday, Sept. 6. Ash Street Saloon: Having missed them the last time they came through town, I can't tell you how absolutely off the wall excited I am to be watching Flipper playing "Way of the World." It sounds as vibrant and brutal as it did when I first heard it. (RH)

1:25 am Saturday, Sept. 6. Ash Street Saloon: Halfway through the set, just as bassist Krist Novoselic's playing gets unbearably loud, I almost collapse in a heap on the floor due to exhaustion.

This was taken from the Willamete Weekly.

This past weekend was the North West Music Fest. Wow. I saw 21+ bands in two nights. I started the weekend out watching The Skinnyz at Rontom's. They totally shred even though their guitarist told me off last year ( grudger ). Then more bands that all sounded the same... then Witchcraft who obviously rocks. Second night highlights were late night Caves show, Nebula- LOVE IT!! and of course a night with Krist Novoselic and Flipper. OK no Nebula footage but the bassist was the hottest guy in Portland and he's married so time to move. Anyways, Flipper was amazing till my ear drums burst out and my mind was blown out of my skull and ordered a Jager at the bar while I headbanged. Yes, it was amazing, but the sound was a bit difficult to take in. I was pretty stoked to see long time hero Krist playing just inches away from me. If better days had seized us, I would have been watching Krist, Dave and Kurt all together playing some Teen Spirit or at least thrashing their guitars and maybe even setting the drum set on fire. Oh, the good times... those good times are gone and until we are in rock n roll heaven, we must settle for what is rocking now. What is rocking now is the question. Let me know... it is on~!

GOLDIELOCKS - UK!

I got this interview from Danny Johnson's blog Media Contender
Media Contender is a portal for brand management and artist development.

At Media Contender they make great efforts to introduce you to fresh new music across the globe. Eric Foster (Mr Boxed, pixelfactor) reached out to Goldielocks, the latest artist to come out of Croydon, a South London area that is known for the birth of Dubstep. Goldie has made a name in the UK underground not only as an mc, but her production skills are also heavily requested. Download the exclusive mini mix from Goldielocks made just for us.

Here is what Goldielocks had to say…

Mr Boxed:
Hey Goldie, let’s start out with asking what the word “Dubstep” means to you?

Goldielocks:
Beer, Spliffs, and Croydon

Mr Boxed:
The US club scene differs a lot from the UK scene, especially the London scene. What can someone expect these days from the underground club scene here in the UK if they have never been?

Goldielocks:
I would say its pretty cool without trying to hard. Obviously there are some people out there who only go out to check what everyone else is wearing but you usually find at the good nights that the people are more into the music. I run a night called ‘Hardknock Wife’ which started out as a way to showcase my own music but now it’s become more of a little scene. We have live grime, hip hop and other UK underground music, and then live DJs playing dubstep, garage, grime etc. It’s pretty sick, not to big myself up or anything ;)

Mr Boxed:
Could you explain when and how you started to produce/MC?

Goldielocks:
It started back when I was really young, I used to play music in primary school and do motown cover songs in assembly with my friends on the xylophone and shit, looking back it was well good considering I was about 7! Then I played the flute Drums, so I always had musical stuff going on but never knew how it was all going to fit together. Then I found this college called CM (www.cmsounds.com) and learnt how to make beats. Then I started doing vocals as a bit of a joke and people seemed to like it…god knows why!

Mr Boxed:
Your from South London. How do you think this has inspired you and your musical style / flow ?

Goldielocks:
I have a south London accent so I guess that affects how my music sounds, some people don’t like it but that’s how I speak. I often get compared to Janet Street Porter…cringe! Where I live inspires me to write about stuff, things I see, people I know etc.

Mr Boxed:
Your new record “Kids/ Drug-Dee-la” just dropped this month on the infamous Locked On label. How did that come about?

Goldielocks:
Well I signed my publishing to Puregroove, they are basically the same crew as 679 and the old garage label Locked On. When I signed to them they thought it might be cool to resurrect the label after like 10 years and put my stuff out, so we did.

Mr Boxed:
You have a collab coming out later this year with Benga aswell…tell us a bit about that.

Goldielocks:
Ha! You will have to ask him about that, we started a few bits but we’re both really busy so can never find time to finish them off! It will happen though, I promise.

Mr Boxed:
What are some of your musical influences?

Goldielocks:
Food, weed, alcohol, money, lack of money, love, Lee Scratch Perry, Dr Dre and Hall & Oates.

Mr Boxed:
Your current top 5 producers:

Goldielocks:
1) Dr Dre 2) Wiley 3) The Bug 4) Semothy Jones 5) Me

Mr Boxed:
Your current top 5 mc’s:

Goldielocks:
1) Giggs 2) Frisco 3) Random Impulse 4) Illaman 5) Jeeday Jawz

Mr Boxed:
Your current top 5 tunes:

Goldielocks:
1) The Game - Dope Boys 2) Paramore - Crush Crush Crush 3) Tinie Tempah - Tears 4) The Bug - Skeng 5) Time To Pretend - MGMT

Mr Boxed:
Thank you for taking the time to do the minimix and short interview with us. Any shouts to friends or the crew ?

Goldielocks:
Just all the people who reach Hardknock Wife every month and all the people who are buying my music. Kids / Drug Dee-la is out on iTunes now and 7inch vinyl on Sep 15th.

MY NEW BOYFRIEND

I KNOW, I KNOW... YOU ARE WONDERING WHAT I AM THINKING... YES, BUT AT LEAST THIS LIL BASTARD IS NICE.

JUST A REMINDER TO MYSELF

DEAR NICOLE,
SORRY FOR THE BAD WORDS MOM, BUT SERIOUSLY, THIS GUY IS CLUELESS & SO AM I.

I AM WOMAN

So, it has been almost 2 years since I left the farm. I have learned so much, but there is so much more to learn. Yesterday I learned how to do my hair. I went to the salon and asked Anne Quinn at Magnum Opus to help me with my smooth locks. Check. Today I am off to the face lady who is going to help me look pretty-ha! Like nature hasn't helped me with this before... goodness! So I am learning how to be a woman. It is all too funny to me! Look MoM - I am normal!! Ok, actually, I am starting to look like I am from the O.C. which is sad, because I moved away from there in 1999 to get away from the materialism and bull. I know this identity crisis has been interesting. I can't wait to get back to me again. Maybe I will stop brushing my hair again?? Who knows... one brushing at a time.

Smelly

My Unkle Jason says I have too good of a smelling power. It is true. I can smell everything. Sometimes it is gross and other times pleasent. A man just came into the office and smelled like Matt J. from San Deigo. Earlier, in bed, I smelled figs from a candle. Weird, yes. It is crazy how scents can take you mentaly to certain places, whether good or bad. I know this is random, but embrace it. Please try to make yourself smell good. If not, just own it and rock something nasty to freak people out.

Things I Learned From Gza Last Night

1. How to play chess. First, Gza tells me that chess is a great natural high. He does not like when people play "cubby" moves aka cubs scout moves that are super basic. His cousin taught him a few years ago and Gza loves to play on the tour bus. He will take any challengers and he never gives up.

2. That washing your hands after using the bathroom is very important. He tells me that this is where he starts judging people. Gza said that he knows girls are trashy if they don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. Keep it fresh yo!

3. How to make a fresh late night smoothie while on a tour bus. Preparation is key. He cuts up fresh fruit, freezes it and then busts it into the blender with a little water. The smoothie he made had pineapple, banana, strawberries and a few fresh blueberries. I was impressed that after a show he just busted one out. Yum Yum!

4. How to have to softest skin in the world. Touch him, you will understand. He told me that once he met a little kid and the kid called him out for having super soft hands. His nails are really nice as well, he says it is all the good food he eats. I believe it after the late night healthy smoothie.

5. Time to stop smoking. As we rolled down the smoke filled halls of the hotel, he told me that he doesn't smoke anymore. Gza is 42 now and feels like that it is in his past. He has better things to do now...time to evolve in a different way.

~Thanks to Heathcliff for inviting me out last night. Next time we have to hang when you are not working. Good times are here again...

Heathcliff & I on stage while Gza got all crazy with the 46 chambers.

FRIEND$

This month has been full of all sorts of fun. Last weekend Shawn Bermudez & his buddy Jared came up to Ptwn, they wanted to check out some bars, since they are thinking of moving here and opening a new one. Wow, I think he hit most of them up & my hangover has finally subsided- thank God! This past weekend Andy Lucas flew in from Maui ( favorite island of the Bondurant sisters ). It was good seeing him, I wish he were still here so we could go to Gza together...anyways, we did a nice hike to Punch Bowl Falls. I even went in the water and damn it was cold! Worth it though.

More fun to come this week. Mikey Urban is in town, Cameron comes back from Humboldt and Heathcliff of course. Things are looking good.

Till the next episode... love!

Wu Tang

Did I ever mention that I am down with Wu Tang? Crazy, I know, but it all happened one weekend when i was in San Fran visiting Andy Lucas in the hospital. Crystal was downtown and couldn't meet me at the hospital so i went down to meet her. I guess Rock da Bells was going on as well, so the W hotel was filled with all types of hip hop heads. Me, as outgoing as ever, ran into Method Man and was like Heyyy! I went up to the bar and then met their tour manager Wood & Heathcliff. So we all hit it off no doubt. Wood invited Crystal, Deborah and I to the club next door, where we were vip into the joint. So now all of a sudden we are taking shots of patron with Method, who hates patron, and everything is going wild! In the vip was every rock da bells artists including the roots, public enemy minus flav, wu tang... and many more. NOt sure if the highlight was when Crytal started dancing on the stripper pole or Quest Love spinning till 5:30am... wowzers...
So, Heathcliff emailed me today. Guess what? He is in Portland tonight and wants to hang, him and Gza...

Damn, life is good!

LOVEZ YAHZ!!

Surfer Girl

I have been dreaming lately. I have been thinking of what makes me happy and how my ideal life would be. In my dream it is sunny, I just got out of yoga and then I am on my way to the beach to surf. In my dream, I am a decent surfer girl and do tons of yoga. In my dreams I eat lots of mangos, papaya and coconut.

I don't know about you, but I think I would make a super cutie surfer girl. Might be time to bring it back. I think when I get back from my winter trips I will make this dream a reality. Surfer girl 2009, I like the sound of that.

BOLLOCKS! : MY LIFE WORKING FOR THE MAN

Today I get denied for the raise I have been asking for. I am so pissed. I guess this is what happens to normal people. Today I realized, that I am one of these normal people. It sucks. Why would I want to spend the best years of my life sitting at this damn computer getting cellulite? This is bullshit. I now know why people go postal or kill their familes because they are stressed out. Work is not a place where fun things happen. Work is the drag ass of this world. I guess it pays the bills, but I don't even want bills if I have to constantly feel as if my life is meaningless. Gosh, I am now understanding what it is like to be an adult. More bullshit ( sorry mom ), but it is true.

So I have a solution to all this bullshit: find a job that makes me feel good & pays well. I am going to try to do this, even though I have mastered it. I am moving to NYC to go to yoga teacher training. Hopefully, I will become a special needs yoga teacher & things will look up. F-it, it is better than sitting on my ass wasting time.

SOrry, I just really needed to vent & lunch isn't for another half hour.

Love you

DUBSTEP DOWNLOADS DEFine

go here to download the love!:
pixelfactor

Introduced to dance music as a school boy, DEFine used to listen to and swap the latest mix tapes in school and venture into the local record shop to collect fliers for his bedroom wall. Through this activity a natural progression into the scene lead to more involvement in the music industry. Living in Milton Keynes, home of the legendary ‘ Sanctuary music arena ‘ and growing up with musicians such as Capdown, musical inspiration was always on his doorstep.

The late 90’s saw DEFine starting to dj out on a regular basis playing many of his first gigs on the illegal rave scene, being a part of Junction 14 crew and playing at such parties like Exodus, Survival and many others. It was here that he developed an appreciation for a heavier, more technical sound of Drum and Bass, influenced by the likes of Technical Itch, Dylan, Loxy, Kemal, Dom and Roland and labels like Renegade Hardware, Outbreak, Biotech, Penetration, Cylon and Flex.

His performance exposure further fueled his passion for the musical approach he strived for, and was soon co-running Milton Keynes first regular Drum and Bass club night. This lead to an addiction to the Drum and Bass sound and his keen enthusiasm and dedication secured an abundance of bookings and residencies both in the UK and Europe.

The next obvious progression for DEFine was into the studio - Mid 2000, alongside such peers as ; Infiltrata, Amaning, BTK and L Double he developed and mastered a unique, well engineered, original sound which lead to successful releases on DNB labels like Barcode, Human Imprint and Infiltrata Recordings.

Most recently DEFine has been captivated by the contemporary sound of Dubstep, receiving a lot of support and a residency at Sub Conscious and sets at events like Kontact and Stink Like Sock and future releases planned with SubConscious Recordings and Mode Recordings in 2008.

- I chilled with this cat in Milton Keynes this past Feb & he knows how to rage it proper!! this cat is cool & you will love the mix... esp.
when AFRIKA!!! hits!

Love Lessons

Love lessons
In the past few days I have learned a lot about love. After watching "young and restless in china, crazy love, and commune, my thoughts on love have changed completely.

Crazy love is about the obsessed lover who threw acid in his ex girlfriend's face. Sounds horrific and it is but, this guys obsession is almost honorable. He is dedicated to this woman and will do anything to keep her. After realizing that she is "damage goods" and he gets out of jail, they reunite and are happily back together and in their 70's. This is a freak but amazing love indeed.

Young & restless in china depicts the lives of a few Chinese men and women. When the story goes deep into the farmland of china, the ancient arrange marriages are reveled. A migrant working young woman is forced to marry someone the matchmaker picks out for her. She is opposed while her brother states, why not commit to an arranged marriage? Like a spouse you pick could be better. What we dream is one thing, reality is yet another. This is a good point and something I can sort have grasp. Sometimes I feel as if I could marry anyone. It is all about the balance. Obviously if the guy is mean and violent that is not a good thing. But if things work on some sort of level, then why not flow with it. Our parents had a choice and they aren't always happy about it. Or are they?

Commune puts all these theories to shame by using communal settings to define love. Why keep one lover when you can have them all type attitude. Share and share alike it their motto. This seems like it could be ok and in the larger picture could reflect on society and the fact that we go through so many lovers before picking 'the one'. This orgy / sharing type of attitude is not only very difficult, but also very destructive.

I am a bit old fashioned and believe that I would like to have one lover that I can count on eternally. But as the migrant workers’ brother stated, dreams and reality are two different things. It is strange in our modern time that we have so many choices and in so change the social norm. We have no time restriction or any limitations. This is totally different than our parent's generation. I felt as if they had more pressure to do things a certain way and by a certain time. We are so free now. We have so many choices. I think that is why it is so difficult to find that special someone. Our dreams say one thing, but in reality those dreams aren't always possible.

Goodness! It is time to face the music and settle?

Meadows Group Company Picnic

Hey, the company picnic wasn't that bad! We had is on one of the agents farms in Scappoose. There were horses, donkey's, chickens, food, games and beer. The highlight for me was riding the hourse and taking the keg of Mirror Pond home. I still have it... oops!

Love you!
