My Secret Obsession

I am not sure how I found The Arab Parrot, but for some reason I am obsessed. His blog is a photo diary of sorts. He is by-coastal and loves rap music. He rocks Cross X Colors and is a Raider fan. I kind of feel like I am describing myself but I am not a long haired Arab man who thinks of himself as a parrot. Pretty awesome and gross. Rated R for Rad and Random.

NYC> OAK> SUGARPINE

So sad to say good bye to New York and the wonderful times we shared. The sky scrappers, the brunch days, the one way tickets on the met... I will never forget you. My trip to New York was amazing. I was able to learn yoga with the most wonderful people. They are all so amazing! New York made me new friends, and helped me reconnect with ones of old. It was amazing hanging out with Balir Thetford after about 10 years of being out on our own. It was a treasure to reconnect with Jen Fraser. Talking with her was so dear, it really touched my heart. We met around age 15-16 and were juvenile delinquent grrrLs together.Oh the good times of yesterday and the blessed ones of today! New York brought me to the famous... Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald among my most favorites. I am so thankful for the opportunity my roommate Aaron provided me. It was so kind and I am most gracious.

Thursday around 1 pm, I landed in Oakland. What a breath of fresh air: California. I was back in my home state. Udom picked me up and we drove to Sonora, Ca. and met one of my best friend's Julia. She and Udom, her boyfriend, live in Sugarpine, about 10 minutes North of Sonora. Wow, this place is like camping. There is nothing around. Yesterday I went for a 2 hour walk/ hike, and ran into no highway, no store and only a few abandoned for the season vacation mansions. This place is amazing despite the desolation. The weather is mild and sunny. They really want it to snow, but I am cool with the sun's warm love.

It was burn day today in Sugarpine. I took all the dead moist leaves and mixed them with the dry needles, then proceeded to make a big fire. Oh what fun. I love out door fun especially when it involves burning things. I opened a PBR in honor of my good work. Ha! So that is the latest. Sugarpine. It might be nowhere to you, but it's where I'm at.

Caravan Of Dreams

Yesterday I went to the East Village. I attempted to shop, but found myself empty handed and rather hungry. I headed down to Caravan of Dreams on 6th, just off of 1st. This place is totally amazing. All vegan organic- my favorite!! They had so many delicious entrees to choose from. Their menu even had a huge raw section. Starving, I wen for the Macrobiotic Plate. It came with a side side that had sunflower spouts, radishes, yellow & green bell peppers and was covered in some kind of yummy lemon dressing. I really put a smile on my face. Simple pleasures, right? Then the entree came. Yikes! It was huge. It was split into large portions of bbqed beans, plain quinoua, grilled setain, some sea veggie, and steamed kale accompanied with other green veggies. Delicious. Then there was this tahini sauce to top it all off. Yeh, I ate the whole thing. It was so good I had to. I can't help myself around vegan organic delights. I could eat like this everyday. Although I pretty much try to, nothing I cook ever turns out this beautiful & delicious! Now I have someone to look up to.

NYC To Do's

Done with school, now it is time to go have some fun...

Here are my NYC to-do's

1. Get me some Henna
2. Get me some kind Ayurveda grindz
3. Go to the Modern Art Museum
4. Go see where the family came in on the boat
5. And of course more grindz

I am on a total budget, but so ready to take this city on, again! Since first visiting NYC in 1999, I have been able to find some many gems. I mean vegan, organic, eco rad type places that tickle my fancy. I am excited for 2 weeks of exploration. Unfortunately, it is like 30 degrees outside, I am going to bundle up like the Christmas Story kid and head out.

Yoga Teacher Training: Sonic Yoga

I started yoga teacher training at Sonic Yoga, in New York City. Last week was my first week and I totally love it. I am learning so much about the asanas, or poses, and how the body works with the asanas. This training is a miracle for me. I feel as if I am transforming into a better person and for once feel like I have found some sort of career. This career choice is not going to be an easy stroll into riches, but with time and practice is going to be the best possibility for me. I am excited to continue my training and practice at Sonic Yoga, but also look forward to more training. After this training, I would like to continue my education and become a 500 hour level teacher. I am totally inspired!!

HERE I GO AGAIN...

This has been a wild past few weeks. Left Portland with a bang! Short Shorts party was way too fun. I mean seeing tons of dudes rocking mini's was hilarious. Left Oregon a few days later to go visit Humboldt. It had been 2 years since my move and nothing had really changed there. A few of my girls had kids but other than that, the place is still one of the most debauturas places on earth. You can't even imagine. It was really nice to see all the homies and say hi to the massive redwoods. After 2 weeks knee deep in chaos, I bailed to so cal to see the fam and get ready for my NYC mini move. I arrived in NYC on Friday. Took a cab to my new spot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This place is amazing. I guess it is located in the Polish part of town and kinda down the road from the hipster capitol, Williamsburg. My roomie, Aaron is an art handler and artist. Oh and he loves Gossip Girl- so do I - don't tell!~! Friday night we went to the city for his buddy's birthday. We went to this speakeasy type of bar. It was crazy, they only served drinking in tea cups. Great way to make you think you are not really pounding shots. Great! Woke up Saturday not feeling 100%, so we did brunch on Bedford St. We met up with some more of my roomies homies and drank breakfast bombs, which consist of a momosa with a shot of vodka. Death, I know! After a few, we met up with my best friend, Crystal and had some foamies. Foamies are $3 huge styrofoam cups filled with Budwiser. Normally not my thing, but when in Rome... or Brooklyn! The rest of the day was out of control, i am sure you can imagine, but I made it home safe. Now I am chilling out and enjoying this beautiful sunny day. Earlier I went out and got some flowers, which are making my day even better. Might hang out with Blair Thetford later today. Should be fun considering we haven't seen eachother in almost 10 years... I think my dreads were like 2 inches last time I saw him!- old school!! OK love you and miss you tons!
